JessieZee25's Tailgate album on Photobucket

It's finally here Bloomsburg Football Fans! For the first time ever, Bloomsburg University will be launching the new Husky Tailgate Zone. Husky fans will now have a place to socialize, prepare for upcoming games, and celebrate every Huskey victory. They will be building the tailgating zone right behind the northern end of Danny Hale Field.  Yes we may not be as big of a school as West Virgina University, Arizona State, or Kansas, but by no means does that mean the Huskies don't a place to rally!

Anyone who is over the age of 21 is permitted to have alcoholic beverages on them during the tailgate, halftime, and strictly one hour following the football game. If you are under 21 there are no exceptions, alcohol is strictly permitted.

The first 30 individuals who register for a Husky Tailgate Zone pass will receive a free Husky Mug to celebrate the opening season for the Husky Tailgate Zone!

Kendrick Lamar Concert 2013

This past March, Bloomsburg University had the privledge of having the number one artist in the R-N-B game to perform at the Nelson Field House. Crowds of BU students, as well as students from surrounding colleges piled up in the gymnaisum to hear the beautiful beats of Kendrick Lamar. Tickets sold out fast among students and the public. A week prior to the concert, BU students had Kendrick Lamar on repeat!
As Kendrick first came out to his first song that featurs ASAP Rocky, the crowd immediately went wild. Kendrick's stage presence grabbed everyones attention, and the only thing that mattered was the music. As his concert went on, he performed many of the crowd's favorites. "Money Trees" was a song that many of the crowd recognized since it was one of Kendrick's first songs. Personally, his stage presence was captivating and drew me in from the beginning. Throughout his concert fans were amazed by how diverse the melodies were in a song.

Money Trees

His music is so versatile that it allows you to listen to him regardless of what mood your in. But it was then, when Kendrick played a song that made the crowd one huge sing-a-long. When he started to sing, "Sing About Me" everyone in the room was feeling a smoothe, relaxing song. The songs beautiful melody, alongside of it's relatable lyrics make it hard for Kendrick fans to take it off of repeat. His album "M.A.A.D CITY" released on October 22, 2012 follows the story of a teenage Lamar's experiences in the gang lifestyle of his native Compton, California.

FUJI SUSHI

I scream, you scream, we all scream for

 S-U-S-H-I!!!

Sushi is a certain food that only appeals to certain crowds of people. Many people are very critical about the Sushi that they eat. If it tastes too much like fish or seawood, don't count on anyone to eat it. But when it comes to Fuji Sushi in Bloomsburg, It's hard to deny that it is absolutely delicious! From the Mizou soup to the crab rolls, customers often find it difficult to only limit themselves to one or two roles.

Grab a roll for lunch or dinner, or even as a snack! Don't miss out on Bloomsburg's finest sushi restaurant! The prices are affordable to even the brokest college students, and the options are unlimitied! Fuji Sushi is always attracting customers and continues to expand their business.

Located right off of Lightstreet road, Fuji Sushi is easily accessible to any one on the go!

Want to take a nice walk in to town? Don't forget to grab either a crab or tuna roll for the walk!

BU HOMECOMING 2013 IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER....ALMOST!

Let's recap BU's fall 2012 homecoming game, where the huskies brought all of the heat that they needed too! The Huskies ended up winnig verse their Pennsylvania rivals, West Chester University by a score of 24-23. All throughout the game fans were on the edge of their seats waiting to see who would pull out with the W! Of course, it was our hometown Huskies who managed to pull through and grab the victory! The BU Football team is not only full of talent, but boys who put their entire heart into each game. Especially the homecoming game, which to many of the players is the biggest game of the season from them.
Of course the hardwork and time pays off, and without an astonshining coaching staff the Huskies would not be nearly as successful.

Not really much of a sports fan? Well its time to leave the crowded dorm room or get off of that comfy couch! Football season is right around the corner and the Huskies are slowly starting to prepare for another victorious season.  All the more support for our hometown huskies the better!

Be sure to catch next season's homecoming game. The Bloomsburg Parade always rallies up the students and fans of Bloomsburg and gets them hyped up. Not to mention there are always fun activities that follow these intense nail biting games.

Off Campus Dining!

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza!

Best Pizzeria In Bloomsburg

Tri-Pi is the newest addition to the Bloomsburg Pizza family, and by far the best. Located on 55 E. Main Street, BU students can't get enough of this delicious tasting food. Whether sober or feeling a bit loopy, Tri-Pi's phones are constantly ringing and there is never a dull moment. I wonder how Naps and Balzanos feel about the newest Pizza place being the number one in town!

An absolute favorite of many customers are the delicious spinach rolls that are made fresh daily!

Not a fan of spinach rolls? Try out the  cheesteak, tomato, onion and pepper homemade pizza!

Don't like this either? The newest favorite of BU students is the PRETZELLINI! The signature dish of Tri-Pi is too good to just have one of! Bring on the second, third and fourth one! After one bite you will be hooked!

Not too sure what sounds appetizing? Time to check out the full Tri-Pi Menu to pick out a tasty treat!

BU Recreation Center

Ready To Sweat It All Off?
BU REC CENTER

The Student Recreation here on campus is a great assesity for students to enjoy. Even after a long day, it is often very relaxing to many students to take a jog on the treadmill, or burn some calories on the eliptical. The Recreation center is convient and a stressfree environment where students can have fun and enjoy themselves. The indoor track surrounds the four basketball courts and is a great place to take or few laps around. The recreation is open seven days a week to any BU student or faculty member. On Monday through Thursday the recreation center is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.. On Friday it is opened from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is opened from 10 a.m to 10 p.m. on the weekend. These are the perfect hours for students to fit some fitness in their hectic schedules.

The recreation center is divided up into seven different sections. The Fitness Room is where you will find a lot of the ladies getting their sweat on. It is about 6,000 sqaure foot and is filled with various cardio machines. In here you'll find ellipticals and treadmills, climbers, stationary bikes, arc trainers and complete cybex strength training circuit. Some people are probably thinking what do these complicated named machines even do? Well, this is the room full of cardio machines to help students and faculty members keep up their endurance!

Venturing out of the cardio room, the weight room is just around the corner. In here is where a majority of the "meatheads"get their swell on (click for a better description). This is the main spot where all of the males scatter off too. The weight room is the main place where the males go to bulk up. However, that doesn't mean that the ladies can't hold their own with the weights. There will be a few share of females in this room, but not nearly as much as the males. In the weight room you'll find master bench's, squat racks, a multi-station cable cross, and a dead-life area complete with barbells/dumbells.

Next stop is the main area,  which is where the four multipurpose basketball courts are located. Often you will see students playing volleyball, rudgby or indoor tennis. These courts are always being used by the students of BU! Who wouldn't want to play a pick up game of basketball or spike some volleyball's at one another? Games are consistently being played on the courts and players may not always walk away with a win, but a good time is satisfying enough!

Who's ready to play some raquetball? The recreation center is the perfect place to go to! There are four glass backed raquetball courts that are also used for wall ball. The raquetball games seem to get extremely intense!
But if none of these entertaining activties sound appealing, maybe something a bit more intense will!
The Rock Climbing wall is a 30 foot wall where human monkeys like to swing from one rock, back to another. Rock climbing is a bit harsh on the hands and leaves work out go'ers extremely sore after a good session.

No matter if students want to shoot some hoops, burn some calories, or climb some rocks, the BU Recreation Center will be perfect for you!

Dining On Campus

Are you getting what you pay for?
 Bloomsburg Dining

Bloomsburg University offers different meal plans for students to have during theschool year. Most students, especially freshman and people living on campus, use the dining services on campus. There are several places to eat on campus, however, students still complain everyday about how the meal plans are a waste. Why? Because Bloomsburg could do a much better job with the dining on campus.

There are 5 main dining services, Scranton Commons, Subway, Husky Lounge, Roongo’s, and Monty’s on upper campus. Meal plans range from around $900- $1,500. The standard one is around $1,400. Students pay a lot of money for these meal plans, yet, something is missing. With meal plans, students can also get flex dollars, usually the amount is $200. Most places, besides commons and roongos, require a meal and some flex, depending on what you order. Campus dining really rips you off. Commons is the only place on campus where you don’t need any flex to eat. Everywhere else, you are required to use your flex as well as a meal. By the middle of the semester, almost all students are running low on flex. All places on campus should only require that you use a meal. Places like Starbucks and Java City is where students should use it. “ This food honestly isn’t even that good, and I have to pay almost an extra $3 for my meal whenever I go anywhere but commons, it’s such a rip off!” said Rachel Policare, a sophomore at Bloomsburg. Commons should not be the only place that you do not need flex. Meal plans are already so expensive, why require Flex? Students complain almost every day how much flex they waste from eating on campus. More and more each year, people are starting to not get meal plans because they feel they are getting ripped off.“ My mom wouldn’t let me get a meal plan next year because I told her about the flex situation. She just didn’t understand why every place required you to use flex on top of your meal plan. “ said Conrad Berquist, a junior at Bloomsburg.

On top of it being a rip off and waste of money, the food at Bloomsburg is not very good. There have been several times where students have felt sick after eating anywhere on campus. One student found a piece of hair in a bagel they ordered from the Husky lounge one time. It should not be like this considering how much money people spend. “ I hate going to commons because it grosses me out, but now I have to all the time. I started the semester off with $200 on flex and am now out. Everytime I ate I would have to use around $2-3 dollars of my flex. It is such a rip off!” said Kelley Nelson, a junior at Bloomsburg. It would be much better, and make students much happier if things were to change. People should only be required to use a meal wherever they go.

Block Party 2013- Was It Truly Necessary to Tear Gas, shoot, and maze innocent bi-standards?

BLOCK PARTY 2013

It was on Saturday, April 20th that the "Bear Cat" was called in to take upon some action on the holiday known to BU students as Block Part. Many groups of friends, students and vistiors were outside the entire day trying to enjoy the lovely Saturday. At first, there were only police on horses watching the students just having an innocent good time. That was  Police department took things to a completely different level.

The Police then called in the Bloomsburg SWAT Team. The SWAT truck had come out and parked in the middle of Fetterman, right next to the crowds of kids enjoying the sun. As the SWAT team and the truck were parked on Fettterman, everyone just continued to have a nice and safe time.

However, that was before the SWAT team sat in their expensive and luxorious tank and started to throw TEAR GAS at INNOCENT students who were in no way harming any other person or thing.

It didn't seem like the first bomb was enough, so the SWAT team sent out another and another and another. Makes a lot of sense to tear gas the students and visitors of BU for staying outside and listening to music?

The scary attire of the SWAT team coming out in double file lines with enormous shields and masks covering their faces frightened many Block Party goers.

The SWAT team continued throughout the day to MASEkids, tear gas, and to shoot rubber bullets at students and visitors.

Although the Police Department, and Swat team tried to rain on Block Party goer's fiesta, there was zero chance that could've ever happened!
